Hello,
My name is Joe Callaghan and I'm an Artist from Chester, England.
I was born in the year 2000, and from a very early age I have loved to draw and create. I studied Art at Christleton High School, where i achieved an A* at GCSE and then an A at A-Level.
I could've went further with my art education after school, but I decided to pursue another love of aviation instead. I was offered a place to train as an Air Traffic Controller but sadly I failed the medical examination, that was required to begin, due to an unknown colour-vision deficiency. I went on to study Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, and my most recent job was painting the single-aisle wings at Airbus in North Wales. However, since I left this role, I have been working full time on my Art Career. I have set up online pages on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, where i have began to gain a name and a following.
I mainly draw with a BiC Cristal Original Ballpoint Pen on textured Watercolour Paper, as I like the idea that I can create permanent, high risk pieces using a full range of tone, with an extremely basic tool. There's not much room for error with this method, but when I get it right, I think its hard to beat. Although I put the majority of my time into drawing, I also love to paint and mess around with abstract work, almost as an escape from the high pressure biro drawing. As I progress I hope to continue improving my pen work, as well as developing my abstract painting style. I also hope to add exhibitions and gallery features to this page as I expand my portfolio and continue my art career.
